SLG July Ranking Tournament: Early lead for Kumara

The July National Golf Ranking Championship saw P.D.S.U. Kumara taking an early lead on day one at the Sri Lanka Golf organised Ranking Tournament which commenced at the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) at Rajawella.

Kumara emerged as the early leader, shooting one over par (74). Priya Hemantha, Sri Lankan professional Anura Rohana, and Chalitha Pushpika all tied for second place with scores of 76. 

Youngster Musa Shariff, currently based in the United Arab Emirates on holiday in his father’s home town, finished the day in fourth with a score of 77, followed closely by good form Haroon Aslam who scored 78, securing the fifth and sixth places.

Aslam, currently studying and playing golf in the United States and the previous winner of the last tournament played in Digana, remains within striking distance of the top spot, ensuring a thrilling contest over the next three days.

A record number of 64 teed off on day one entries, inclusive of six entries from ladies.
