SLGU Ranking Tournament 2023; pros dominate day 1

Professional Golfers were in top form on day 1 at the Sri Lanka Golf Union Ranking Tournament which commenced at the picturesque Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) in Rajawella.

Professional golfer, K. Prabagaran emerged as the star of the day, shooting a remarkable two under par 71 while another pro N. Thangara and P. Hemantha, closely tied at 72, eying for the top position.

Chanaka Perera, with a resilient attitude, led the amateur’s leaderboard with a three over par 75. Joining him in the joint top position was Utchitha Ranasinghe, showcasing potential for a fierce amateur competition.

Reshan Algama, who won in tandem in this segment had an ordinary day ending on the 10th position. But he is a youngster shown remarkable quality of fighting back after some ordinary starts in the past. Day 2 will be vital for him. His younger brother, Keshav (13) is making the debut in this tournament.

Sri Lanka Golf Union Ranking Tournament promises to be a spectacle of determination, skill, and sportsmanship that will leave a lasting impression on players and fans alike.
