SLR to boost men’s rugby by hiring coaches, support staff

Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) is geared up for a recruitment drive to boost its men’s rugby team and is in the process of hiring a head coach, supporting coaches apart from employing a masseur, physiotherapist and a strength and conditioning trainer. 

These recruitments, initiated under the supervision of SLR President Rizly Illyas, will be made under the strict conditions that applicants possess the necessary professional qualifications specified by SLR. These appointments will be made in connection with the men’s 15-a-side national rugby team. 

Requirements for each job profile are as follows.

Head Coach: 

  • Must possess World Rugby Level 3 certification 
  • Proven track record of coaching a national, club or school side while possessing national representation will be an added qualification
  • Recruitment subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR

Backs Coach:

  • Must possess the World Rugby Level 2 coaching accreditation
  • Proven track record of coaching a national, club or school side while possessing national representation will be an added qualification
  • Recruitment subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR

Forwards Coach:

  • Must possess the World Rugby Level 2 coaching accreditation
  • Proven track record of coaching a national, club or school side while possessing national representation will be an added qualification
  • Recruitment subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR

Physiotherapist:

  • Must possess World Rugby FAIR Level 2 and NVQ Level 4 accreditations
  • A proven track record as physio of a National/top division club or a school team
  • Recruitment subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR

Masseur:

  • Must possess World Rugby FAIR Level 1 and NVQ Level 4 accreditations
  • A proven track record as a Masseur in a national/top division club or a school team
  • Recruitment subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR

Strength and Conditioning Trainer:

  • World Rugby Strength and Conditioning Level 2 and World Rugby FAIR L 1 Accreditation. 
  • Must have proven track record and is involved with a Division 1 club or school team as trainer. 
  • Recruitment is subject to key performance indicators specified by SLR.
