SLT-Mobitel tees off Burdett Golf Tournament 2024 as principal sponsor and telecommunications partner

SLT-Mobitel, has announced its support as the principal sponsor and telecommunications partner for one of the world’s oldest golf competitions, the annual Burdett Trophy. 

The prestigious event, steeped in rich tradition, pits the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) against the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) in a spirited competition. The tee off between the two teams will take place on 6 July at the NEGC golf course, Nuwara Eliya. 

Inaugurated in 1902, the historic competition is now a hallmark event on the nation’s golf calendar, attracting the finest talents and enthusiasts from across the country. As the principal sponsor and telecommunications partner, SLT-Mobitel aligns with Sri Lanka’s rich colonial sporting heritage and tradition.

In addition to powering the Burdett Trophy, SLT-Mobitel’s long-standing partnership with the NEGC further demonstrates its commitment to the sport. This year, the 121st Burdett Trophy for men and the 85th Puffin Cup for ladies will be played on the same day. The NEGC team will be led by veteran golfer Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama while Amrith De Zoysa will lead the RCGC. 

In addition to the above events, the tournament will also have the Masters Trophy and 125th Anniversary Trophy as well.
