SSC – NCC share J.R. Jayewardene Memorial Trophy

Captains of NCC Niroshan Dickwella and SSC Nuwanidu Fernando receive the J.R. Jayewardene Memorial Challenge Trophy from the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Shammi Silva and former Sri Lanka and NCC Captain Aravinda de Silva. NCC Secretary Nilesh de Silva, Chairman Marlon Fernandopulle, NCC Cricket Committee, and NCC President Suwan Perera are also present 

The much anticipated 50-over cricket contest between SSC and NCC ended in a no-result at the NCC grounds on Sunday with rain taking the upper-hand.

SSC batting first rattled off 283-3 in 46 overs before rain ended the match.

Shevon Daniel (95 off 80 balls, 5 fours, 7 sixes) and Krishan Sanjula (89* off 94 balls, 9 fours, 1 six) hit fifties apiece for SSC.

At the end of the match the J.R. Jayewardene Trophy for which the contest is played for was awarded to the two rival Captains by the Chief Guest SLC President Shammi Silva and Guest of Honour Aravinda de Silva.
