SSC Open Badminton finals on 22 September

One of the most prestigious events in the country’s sports calendar, SSC All Island Open Badminton Championships will culminate with the finals on 22 September.

The tournament is currently in progress at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) courts and the Mercantile Badminton Association Indoor courts in Colombo and top shuttlers in over 40 categories will be crowned champions on the final day. 

A record number of more than 1,450 shuttlers are in action at this year’s SSC Open.

Apart from the much anticipated open men’s and women’s singles, doubles and the mixed doubles events which will be the cynosure of all eyes, men’s and women’s veterans’ over-35, 40, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70 singles and doubles are also part of this nine day ranking tournament.

In addition to those, boys and girls under-11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 singles and doubles are also in progress during the tournament which is one of the biggest event events in the history of badminton in Sri Lanka.

The tournament is organised by the SSC and will be conducted by the Sri Lanka Badminton according to the BWF rules and regulations.
