SSC are on the cusp of achieving a double in the 2023 domestic season when they meet Sebastianites in the final of the SLC Major Clubs Limited Overs tournament at the SSC grounds today.
SSC finished joint champions with Police SC in the SLC Major League 3-day tournament and are now in the final of the Limited Overs.Both finalists scored facile victories in their semi-final matches. Sebastianites thrashed Badureliya SC by ten wickets with openers Thulina Dilshan and Navindu Vithanage scoring unbeaten half-centuries in chasing down a moderate target of 109.
SSC’s run chase in pursuit of 237 against Colts was spearheaded by Sri Lanka white ball opener Avishka Fernando who played a captain’s knock of 125* and along with Krishan Sanjula (58) saw their side home by six wickets with three overs to spare.
For Colts, it was another missed opportunity of winning a Major title outright in their 150th anniversary year. – (ST)
