SSC achieved the double in the SLC Major Clubs tournament when they won the Limited Overs final beating Sebastianites by 71 runs in the final played at the SSC grounds yesterday.

SSC led by national cricketer Avishka Fernando added the Limited Overs title to the Major League 3-day tournament which they shared as joint champions with Police SC.

On a difficult pitch where run scoring was not easy, SSC electing to bat first struggled to reach 201-8, banking largely on the 68-run seventh-wicket stand between wicket-keeper/batsman Krishan Sanjula (84 off 125 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) and Chamindu Wickramasinghe (36* off 43 balls, 1 fours, 1 six) that lifted them from a precarious 121-6 to their final total.

Pacie Isitha Wijesundara and spinners Dushan Vimukthi and Chamika Edirisinghe were the pick of the Sebastianites bowlers with two wickets apiece.

Sebastianites batting succumbed for 130 to the wily left-arm spin of national player Prabath Jayasuriya who opened the bowling and picked up three wickets supported by spinners Gishan Balasooriya and Nuwanidu Fernando who shared four wickets.

Scores: SSC 201-8 (50) (Danushka Gunathilaka 23, Shevon Daniel 35, Krishan Sanjula 84, Chamindu Wickramasinghe 36*, Isitha Wijesundara 2/39, Dushan Vimukthi 2/39, Chamika Edirisinghe 2/40)
