Former Trinity College, Havelock SC, CH and FC, Kandy Sports Club, national sevens and 15s player Saliya Kumara was appointed as the Head Coach of the Isipathana under-19 rugby outfit for their rugby season 2022.
Saliya after finishing his school rugby at Trinity College in 2003 had two short stints with the Havelocks SC, and CH and FC before moving back to the city where he learnt his game and joined the champion, Kandy SC. He played for nearly seven years for the Up-Country outfit being a sevens specialist for the club and the country. He represented both in 15s and sevens for his club and the country.
Saliya is currently holding a World Rugby-approved trainer and Rugby Educator, earning the WR Level 2 coaching certificate in both 15s and sevens formats. He has previously worked as the Backs Coach for Kandy SC (2016-2018) and Trinity College Rugby team (2018-2019) and Trinity College junior team. He is also the current National Women's Rugby Head Coach.
Former Isipathanian Dhanushka Botheju will be in charge of the forwards at under-19 level and will assist Saliya
