Saliya and Mushtaq appointed as Assistant Coaching staff

Former Zahirian Mohamed Mushtaq and former Trinitian Saliya Kumara were appointed as the two Assistant Coaching staff for the Asia Rugby Sevens 2019 which will get underway in South Korea at the end of this month

. Both will work under New Zealander Matt Lee who will operate as the Head Coach for the three-leg event which will see its second and third legs being worked off in China and Colombo later in September.

Mushtaq worked with CR&FC and later handled the national Under-18 outfit in the shorter version of the game at junior level. After his success he was appointed as the three-quarter coach for the Under-19 outfit 15-a-side outfit.

Meanwhile Saliya Kumara after playing for Trinity turned out for the champion, Kandy SC outfit both in sevens and 15s before being appointed as the sevens coach of his club. Saliya represented the national outfit specialising in the shorter version of the game. He is the present Trinity Under-18 Head Coach.

Danushka Dyan will lead the Men’s outfit while the Women’s outfit will be led by Sanjeewani Wijethilake with Sudath Sampath being appointed as the Head Coach.

  • Pool C – Japan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Malaysia
