Pakistan (The Express Tribune): Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik announced that they are expecting their first child in an adorable Twitter post.
The pair took to their respective social media accounts and posted a cryptic illustration of a locker room stating their surnames, along with the ‘#BabyMirzaMalik’ hashtag.
Earlier, Sania stated that she would want a daughter whenever she decides to start a family. She then said she would want her child’s surname to be ‘Mirza-Malik’.
“Today, I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it, and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza-Malik as a surname,” explained the tennis star during a panel discussion on gender bias at the Goa Fest 2018. “So, that’s where we stand as a family, including my husband. He actually wants a daughter.” In a press release, Shoaib expressed joy, “We are obviously very excited to enter this new phase of our lives. We have been thinking about it for a while and look forward to our journey as parents.”
Sania added: “We are soon to become parents. Having thought about it for a while, we both felt right now is the correct time to start a family.”
