St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya could face demotion and kept aside for this weekend’s knock rugby tournament encounter if they are found guilty for fielding an ineligible player in their outfit during their rugby season 2022 encounter against Vidyartha and Dharmaraja.

The said player had failed his O/L Examination twice. The player in concern had also not sat for the O/L Examination this year (third attempt). After reviewing all the documents, the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SSRFA) had submitted a report to the Education Ministry for further examination and a verdict to be submitted this week. As at yesterday, the Education Department reply had not reached SSRFA.

If the Bambalapitiya school is found guilty, the draw for the tournament could change as following, with Rajans getting an opportunity to feature in this year’s event. Both Trinity and Royal have pulled out of this event due to their Bradby Shield second leg encounter which is scheduled on 3 September.
