Schools Rugby League 2023: Isipathana to defend title

Schools Rugby returns in June 2023

The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SSRFA) conducted Under-19 Rugby League will be worked off starting from the second week of June 2023 in Colombo and Kandy with the Green Shirts, Isipathana College defending the title. 

There will be 14 teams playing for honours in two groups with likely the two bottom teams after the first round to be demoted for next season.

After round one of six matches for each team, the top two teams from each group will play across the other top two teams in the super round to decide the League winners.

 Division 1

•  Group A - Isipathana, St. Joseph’s, Wesley, S’ Thomas, St. Anthony’s, Kingswood, D.S. Senanayake
•  Group B - Royal, Tri-nity, Vidyartha, Science, Dharmaraja, St. Peter’s, Zahira

 Division 2

•  Group A - Thurstan, Maliyadeva, Lumbini, St. Aloysius, Ananda, Piliyandala Central
•  Group B - Sumangala Kandy, Prince of Wales, Mahanama, St. Benedict’s, St. Sylvester’s, Carey

 Division 3

•  Group A - St. John’s, Rahula Kandy, C.W.W. Kanangara, Moratuwa Vidyalaya, Dharmapala, Lalith Athulathmudali
•  Group B- Nalanda, Dewapathiraja, Panadura Sumangala, Siri Piyarathne, Richmond, Bandaranayake Central
