Schools Rugby League to kick off in third week of June

Dialog Schools Rugby League 2022 will be worked off from June third week onwards with 12 top teams locking horns in two groups of six each.

Week 1 will see all five Kandy teams in action in Colombo playing away games. Royal, St. Joseph’s, St. Thomas, Trinity, Kingswood and St. Anthony’s will play Group 1 A while St Peter’s, Wesley, Isipathana, Science, Vidyartha and Dharmaraja battling it out in 2 A. First round games are expected to come to an end on 24 July.

According to reliable source there will be a Super Round where the four top points scoring teams will lock horns in the semi-finals and later the winners will advance to the finals.

Schools Knock Out tournament will take place soon afterwards to allow the schoolboys to prepare for their Advanced Level exams in September.

Meanwhile Zahira, Maliyadeva, Lumbini, Prince of Wales, St. Aloysius and Mahanama will play in 1 B while D S Senanayake, Sumangala, Thurstan, Ananda, St. Sylvester’s and St. Benedict’s will play in 2 B.

Piliyandala Central, Sri Rahula, Sri Piyarathna, Dharmapala, St. John’s and Sri Sumangala Boys will lock horns in the 1C while Devapathiraja, Richmond, Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya, Nalanda, Carey and C W W Kanangara will play in 2 C.
