Schools Rugby Under-20 Sevens: Defending champions Trinity to miss out

Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) conducted Under 20 Seven a side rugby tournament 2022 will be worked off at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium on 1 and 2 October with the participation of 24 leading schools. Day two will see the knock out stages in the Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield taking place.

Trinity College, defending champions of the school’s sevens will miss out on this year’s event due to the commitment of the boys to Advanced Level examinations and they have already ended their season.

Trinity last won the event in 2019 under Reshan Bandaranayake when they edged out St Peter’s in the Cup final which was played at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekelle. Saliya Kumara was the Head Coach of the outfit. The 2020 and 2021 tournaments did not take place due to Covid pandemic around the globe. Along with Trinity, St Thomas, Science and Zahira too will be missed from this year’s event.

Group C: Vidyartha, Lumbini, Nalanda

Group D: Wesley, St. Aloysius, Carey

Group E: St. Joseph’s, St. Benedicts, Piliyandala Central

Group F: St. Peter’s, Maliyadeva, Sri Rahula

Group G: St. Anthony’s, D S Senanayake, Devapathiraja

Group H: Royal, Ananda, Piyaratne College
