Scotland Women became the first team to qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh when they beat Ireland Women by eight wickets in the first semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier at Abu Dhabi and entered the final.
Ireland choosing to bat first were restricted to a total of 110-9 by the right and left arm seam of Scottish skipper Kathryn Bryce (4/8) and Rachel Slater (3/32).
Leah Paul (45 off 51 balls, 3 fours) and Arlene Kelly (35 off 27 balls, 5 fours) were the only batters to make any impression.
Scotland reached the target in 16.2 overs powered by a half-century off 47 balls (4 fours, 1 six) by Megan McColl and Player of the Match Bryce who followed her brilliant bowling display with 35* off 29 balls (5 fours) to see her team home.
In the final, Scotland will meet the winners of the second semi-final between Sri Lanka Women and UAE Women scheduled to commence at 9 p.m. yesterday at Abu Dhabi.
