Bangladesh have named a 16-player squad for this month’s two-match Test series against India.

There’s only one change to the squad that defeated Pakistan 2-0 recently, with keeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik drafted into the playing group to replace injured quick Shoriful Islam for the crucial ICC World Test Championship series.

India are currently the pacesetters on the standings, while Bangladesh sit in fourth following their recent series triumph over Pakistan.

Shoriful is still recovering from the groin injury he picked up in that first Test against Pakistan and will not be considered against India, while Ali Anik earns a call-up on the back of his century for Bangladesh ‘A’ against Pakistan ‘A.’

The 26-year-old is uncapped at Test level, but has played 17 T20I matches for Bangladesh, including four at this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The two-match series commences in Chennai on 19 September and concludes in Kanpur from 27 September.

Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Kumer Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Jaker Ali Anik
