Senior cricketing citizens in training for SL Masters T+20 League quadrangular

The senior citizens (over 50) of four cricket associations, namely Mercantile Cricket Association, (MCA), State Services Cricket Association (SSCA), Nationalised Services Cricket Association (NSCA) and Colombo Masters Cricket Association (CMCA), are believed to have gone into intensive fitness training for the past three weeks, have also given their worn-out flannels for dry cleaning and dusted their old boots in preparation for the historic, inaugural Sri Lanka Masters T+20 League quadrangular 2019.

The tournament, the brainchild of Mahes de Zoysa, former Anandian wicket-keeper/batsman and founder of CMCA in 2017, will get underway on 3 February at the NSCA Grounds, Ratmalana.

The quadrangular will be continued on 8 and 17 February at the Bloomfield C&AC grounds and the two finals, including the play off for the 3rd place, will be held on 24 February at the MCA grounds.

  • 17 February at Bloomfield grounds, Reid Avenue
  • Morning: MCA Vs. State Services
  • Afternoon: Nationalised Services Vs. Colombo Masters
  • 24 February at MCA grounds
  • Morning: Play off 3rd place
  • Afternoon – Final

 

The launch of the tournament was held on Wednesday, 30 January, at the MCA Fine Dining Restaurant, where the CMCA President presented the Dr. R.A.H. de Zoysa Challenge Shield and the official players caps to the four captains – Roshan Iddamalgoda (MCA), Deepal Madurapperuma (Nationalised Services), Thilak de Silva (State Services) and Lasantha Perera (Colombo Masters).

Tournament venues sponsored by respective teams, match balls + prizes, three cricket bats by AD Sports Corner and Dr. R.A.H. De Zoysa Challenge Shield by Atlas Hall.
