Reshan and Kaya
Day one of the Asia-Pacific World Junior Championship held in Manila saw Team Sri Lanka delivering top class performances, placing second on the leaderboard with a combined score of 143.
Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatta showed their remarkable skills, finishing just two shots behind the leading European Golf Association team, which posted a total of 141.
Reshan Algama, the 16-year-old golfer, had a fantastic day one. He finished the day tied for second place on the individual leaderboard with a fantastic three-under-par round of 69. His under-par achievement highlighted his potential and ability at the world junior stage.
Kaya Daluwatta also put up a very good performance, ending the day tied for 5th with a score of 74, just two over par. Her contribution was crucial in keeping Team Sri Lanka in the hunt for the top spot with two more days of competition remaining.
De Tom of the European Union led the individual standings with an impressive five-under-par round, while Lau Arianna took the lead in the girls’ division with a four-under-par.
With 17 countries competing, Sri Lanka’s performance on day one has set the stage for a highly competitive tournament. (SJ)
