Seven cricketers, four from St. Anthony’s College – Katugastota and three from Trinity College are in the pool for the Under-19 England tour of Sri Lanka for the five one-day matches which are being played in Colombo at present.
All four of Chamidu Wickremasinghe, Treveen Mathews, Anjala Bandara and Lahiru Abeysinghe are from St. Anthony’s coached by Suneth Gunathilake. Meanwhile, the three Trinitians are Pawan Pathiraja, Ranuda Somaratne and Matheesha Pathirana, who are coached by former Trinity cricketer Kavinda Jayasuriya.
Earlier, against the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka couple of months back, five players represented the national team from the Central Region. They were Chamidu Wickramasinghe, Treveen Mathews and Lahiru Abeysinghe (all from St Anthony’s College – Katugastota), Pawan Pathiraja and Matheesha Pathirana (both from Trinity College – Kandy).
