Seven teams vie for NDB sponsored MCA “C” Division 50 Over championship

Seven teams are participating in the ongoing 3rd National Development Bank sponsored – MCA  “C” division 50 Over League Tournament 2023.

The Tournament is conducted with a white ball and coloured clothing.

The teams vying for the glittering “NDB” Trophy are: David Pieris Group of Companies “A”, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Hemas Holdings, Commercial Bank PLC “A”, Airport and Aviation Services, DFCC Bank, and LOLC Holdings.

The League stage of the tournament, played on a single group round robin consisting of 21 matches, got underway on 24 June and will conclude on 30 July 2023.

The venues are  MCA, De Soysa Park / Moratuwa, BRC, Army / Mattegoda, Army / Panagoda, Bloomfield, De Mazamod / Kandana, BOI / Katunayake and DS Senanayake.

Player Control Team (PCT): All matches will be supervised by a MCA-appointed Match Referee; the officiating Umpires will be assigned by the Association of Cricket Umpires-Sri Lanka (ACU); and the Score scorer and DLS Manager will be assigned by the Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers. 

Special Awards: Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Series, and Man of the Final.

Tournament Ball up to the Final: The Grace of Cambridge  “Cavalier” white ball donated by Sri Lanka Cricket, given to the teams on a complementary basis.

The knockout stage: at the completion of the league, the four (04) top teams emerging from the points table will advance to the semi-finals. As follows:

06th August 2023: League no 01 vs. League no 04 at MCA and League no 02 vs. League no 03 at BOI Katunatake

The final will take place on 12 August 2023, at the MCA grounds, commencing at 10 a.m.

The Sponsorship Cheque Presentation ceremony, together with the Media conference, was held on Wednesday, 19  July 2023 at the MCA Legends Wing.

Representing the sponsor were Senior Vice President, Personal Banking and Customer Experience, Sanjaya Perera (Chief Guest), and Assistant Vice President, Marketing Department, Dharshana Jayasinghe (Guest of Honour), and representing the MCA were Senior Vice President, Mahesh De Alwis, Assistant Secretary / Chairman Sponsorship Committee, Rohan Somawansa and Chairman Tournament Committee, Lakmal De Silva.
