Gymkhana Club (CCC) President Shammi Silva was re-elected President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for a fourth consecutive term in office (2025-27) at the 64th Annual General Meeting of Sri Lanka Cricket held at Cinnamon Grand, Colombo yesterday.

It was the third time Silva has been elected uncontested since first taking over the reins in 2019.

As expected, the incumbent officials for Vice Presidents, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer were all re-elected uncontested.

The only change of position was for the post of Secretary which had fallen vacant with the resignation of Mohan de Silva in November 2023.

It was filled yesterday by Bandula Dissanayake who was elected uncontested as the new Secretary.

Dissanayake had previously served as Chairman Tournament Committee and Chairman Umpires Committee. This is the first occasion he has been elected to the post of Secretary.

The SLC election was held under the supervision of the Election Committee, chaired by Retired Court of Appeal Justice Malani Gunaratne, who officially declared the results. The election took place alongside the 64th Annual General Meeting of SLC.

The most important event for the newly elected committee is co-hosting the 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with India in February-March 2026 after having missed out on hosting the ICC Under19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in January-February 2024 when SLC was suspended by the ICC due to government interference.
