Former Peterite and Sri Lanka double international (basketball and rugby football) player, Shehan Dias will cross over from Havies to CR & FC for the 2018/2019 Inter Club rugby season. This will be a major blow for the Park Club already losing out on Kevin Dixon, Sudam Sooriyarachchi and Hirantha Perera.
Shehan had represented Sri Lanka at basketball during the South Asian Games which took place in Bangladesh. He also led the basketball outfit at the under 19 level tour to Macau. In rugby he represented combined Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union President’s XV against the Defense Forces XV and was also part of the Sri Lankan at Youth Asiad which took place in Hong Kong.
Shehan captained the Sri Lanka Under-19 team to Macau in 2009. Earlier he toured Vietnam, Thailand and India with the junior team and with considerable amount of experience in the international circuit for his age, this youngster has been rewarded to show his prowess in the court.
He represented Sri Lanka at sevens and fifteens. During the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow he was in the Shield winning team which beat Barbados in the semi-final 34/0 and in the finals got the better of Trinidad and Tobago 43/7. He missed out last couple of years of Club and national rugby due to his higher studies in USA.
Peterites continue their unbeaten run
St. Peter’s College continued their unbeaten run in the Singer League 2018 rugby tournament when they edged out Kingswood College by 20 points (2 goals, 2 penalties) to a 10-point (1 goal, 1 penalty) win at Havelock Park, yesterday.
At the short breather, scores were deadlocked at 7 apiece. (SJ)
