Joes 38 points
Antonians 5 points
St. Joseph’s College made their intentions clear this year when they outplayed Katugastota Antonians by 38/5 in a five-try blitz at Nittawela where the home team replied with only one try.
Nehan Perera drew first blood for the Joes outfit in the 16th minute of the game with a dandy try which was scored by Santhush Algama. Another Algama penalty put the home team under pressure at a 10-point deficit.
Joes who dominated the initial half scored their last first half-try through Rashane Gunawardena which was beautifully goaled by Algama. Devapriya touched down after the short-breather which took the Joes tally to 24 to nothing. Roshane Gunawardena’s second try and Algama conversion took them to 31 to nothing.
Antonians scored their first try for the game and the season through Bawantha Dharmapala. Thangaiah try and Aaron Perera conversion took the score sheet to 38/5 with an easy win for Joes which was their second for the season.

Peterite edge out Kingswood
St Peter’s 14 points
Kingswood 7 points
St. Peter’s College got off their winning start in game two when they edged out Kingswood 14/7 at Nittawela.
Peterites skipper Bilal Hilmy scored first with Thenuka Nanayakkara to take an early seven to nothing lead. Plenty of handling errors and conceding penalties was the show by the Randles Hills School which cost them the second try as well. Wet conditions at Nittawela did not help the home team as they failed to clear the second ball which was collected and scored by Sandesh De Mel. Nanayakkara added the extras to take the short breather at 14 to nothing.
Kingswood scored their only try of the evening when their star scrum-half Hirusha Sampath charged down a clearance kick to touch down under the posts. Sampath added the extra two points. Kingswood though attacked in the Bambalapitiya lads territory for couple of minutes they could not breach the defence.
