Singer Schools Rugby League 2019 which was to recommence on 31 May was postponed once again to September by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) due to venue and security concerns.

This decision was taken at a meeting which took place between the SLSRFA officials and all participating schools in Colombo yesterday. Boys will be half-done as not only will they need to continue their training but also to get back to the books for their Advanced Level examinations.

SLSRFA along with the Ministry of Defence took a decision to hold the Colombo matches at the Sugathadasa Stadium while the Kandy Plate are games to be played at the Bogambara Stadium commencing on 31 May.

According to reliable sources most of the Colombo schools refused to play at Sugathadasa Stadium citing, one of the Colombo schools who do not hold their own rugby ground do their training at this venue, this gives them an unfair advantage of the venue.

Now the big question is on the 75th Bradby Shield encounter which is scheduled to take place on 1 June (Pallekelle) and 15 June (Royal Sports Complex). Will it take place or will the first leg too be a friendly encounter? Time will answer the question.

Trinity will host first leg on 1 June
