The Singer League Schools Rugby Under-19 tournament will kick off after a break initiated due to a lack of safety for match officials and players at various venues.
After a meeting with the Minister of Sports, tough measures were agreed to for any unruly acts perpetrated by spectators.
Starting today (1 June) with a game between D.S. Senanayake College and St. Anthony’s College Katugastota at Havelock Park, all Cup and Plate segment matches will be worked off on 2 and 3 June.
The schools league will come to an end with one more round of matches. Soon afterwards the Milo Knockout Rugby competition will take place, giving time for the national Under-19 side to participate in the Asian Sevens Series in Hong Kong in early August.
