St. Peter’s College edged out Vidyartha College 26-21 in the Cup final of the Singer Sri Lanka Schools Under-18 rugby Sevens tournament, which was worked off at the Royal Sports Complex yesterday.
At halftime Vidyartha led 14-7. Royal, who were beaten earlier by Trinity College in the Cup quarterfinal encounter, captured the Plate with an easy 27-0 win over Isipathana. The two other Kandy schools made the central region proud. It was Kingswood who accounted for the Bowl, beating D.S. 22-5 while Sri Sumangala, Kandy beat C.W.W. Kananagara MV 15-12 in the Shield final.
Trinity, the defending champions, ended their tournament run in the semifinal, losing out to Vidyartha.
