Sinhawansa appointed Executive Director at SL Rugby

Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) under the Presidency of Rizly Illyas in its bid to have the best qualified individuals to serve rugby, has recruited Hassan Sinhawansa as the new Executive Director. 

Sinhawansa, an old boy of Isipathana College Colombo, has a proven track record as a business administrator in rugby and has held many top positions in schools and club rugby set-ups.  

He served in the special committees that oversaw the conducting of the Youth and Senior Rugby Asian Championships held in Sri Lanka in 2000 and 2007 respectively. 

President Illyas stated that the SLR is elated that Sinhawansa has agreed to join the rugby controlling body in Sri Lanka to take it to the next level. 

“The wealth of knowledge Sinhawansa carries as a rugby administrator will be greatly appreciated and he would be an asset to Sri Lanka Rugby and the sport too,” Illyas added.

Sinhawansa served as Rugby Secretary of Isipathana College from 1988 to 1995 and was also involved with the same school as its Rugby Chairman from 2007 to 2010. He was the Rugby Secretary at CH&FC from 1989 to 1994. Later Sinhawansa served Kurunegala Rugby Football Club as its Vice President from 1995 to 1997. He also had a stint as the Colombo Coordinator of Kandy Sports Club from 1997-1999. Sinhawansa was involved with Upcountry Lions as its Rugby Secretary cum Rugby Manager from 2012-2014.
