Skid start for MCA ‘G’ division 25 Over League

The ninth Stafford Motors – Honda Trophy, MCA ‘G’ division 25 Over League Tournament 2019 got off to a skid start last weekend.

Out of 18 half-day matches down for play, four matches got completely washed out, whilst majority of others were played with curtailed overs. 

Opening weekend’s batting honours went to Ishan Nilaksha from MAS Silueta (74 vs. Alaris Lanka) and the bowling spot was bagged by Sajan Fernando from Alaris Lanka (5 for 35 vs. MAS Silueta). 

Opening weekend’s match results are as follows:

  • Deutsche Bank AG beat Zillione Technologies by 17 runs; match reduced to 12 overs-a-side due to wet ground conditions); DB – 126/3 (12), Zillione – 109/8 (12) 
  • Asiri Hospitals beat PickMe by 53 runs (match reduced to nine overs-a-side); Asiri – 103/3 (9), PickMe – 50/6 (9) 
  • Maliban B beat ACL Cables by 92 runs; Maliban B – 174/6 (25), ACL – 82/9 (25)
  • Mobitel beat Star Garments by two wickets; Star Garments – 93 (25), Mobitel – 94/8 (23.1)
  • London Stock Exchange beat Krish Group by 86 runs; LSE – 178 (24), Krish – 92 (23) 
  • Butani Capital beat Ceylon Biscuits by 10 runs on the DLS method; Butani – 114 (20.1), Ceylon Biscuits – 94 (20.4)
  • Baur & Co. beat Durdens Hospital by 123 runs (match reduced to 15 overs-a-side, due to wet ground conditions); Baurs – 165/3 (15), Durdens – 42(9.2)
  • RR Donnelly beat Ship Xpress by seven wickets; Ship Xpress 114 (23.4), RRD – 115/3 (19) 
  • Pearson Lanka beat MD Gunasena by six wickets on the DLS method; MDG – 107/7 (25), Pearson’s – 103 for 4 in 16.2 overs when rain halted play 
  • Singer B beat Commercial Credit by 43 runs; Singer B – 214/6 (25),   Com. Credit – 171 (22.2) 
  • Hayleys Group B beat Aitken Spence Group by eight runs; Hayleys B – 140/6 (25), Ait. Spence – 132 (23.5)
  • Interpharm beat Kelani Cables by eight 8 runs; Interpharm – 86 (20.4), KC – 78 (18.3) 
  • SL Telecom B beat NDB B by seven wickets (match reduced to 10 overs-a-side, due to wet ground conditions); NDB B – 73/8 (10), SLT B – 74/3 (9.1) 
  • MAS Silueta beat Alaris Lanka by 74 runs; MAS Silueta – 208/9 (25), Alaris – 134 (22.5) 
  • The four matches called off due to rain – GSK vs. Coats, Coca Cola vs. Expolanka, Access Group vs. Nor Lanka and Intrepid vs. Abans 

The tournament will be continued this weekend with a card of 16 half-day matches.
