Softlogic Finance beats Hemas in MCA ‘D’ Division 40-over League Tournament

From a hero’s position Hemas Group suddenly fell to a zero, losing their last five wickets for a mere two runs, losing to Softlogic Finance by 14 runs at the 15th MCA ‘D’ Division 40-over League Tournament 2018, sponsored by Ceylon Cold Stores Plc, for the Elephant House Lemonade Trophy. 

A solid opening stand between Dever Foux (86 runs in 60 balls with three sixes and 12 fours) and S. Kumara (40) paved the way for Softlogic Finance to finish with 234 for 8 in 40 overs. 

Hemas was sitting pretty with Shalinda Samaranayake (74 in 82 balls with 8 fours) and Sampath Thebuwana (62 in 70 balls with a six and 6 fours) collared the bowling with a well compiled third wicket stand of 117 runs in 113 balls. 

Pradeep Perera broke the partnership (his only wicket) getting the prize wicket of Samaranayake and Thebuwana followed quickly, falling to S. Christopher (4 for 31).

Shenal Deelaka, who made early inroads, then came back like a hurricane as he swept Hemas off their feet from 218 for 5 to 220 all out in 39.2 overs with an incredible spell of 8-32-5.

A belligerent 93 off 96 balls including a huge six and 16 sizzling fours by Tharindu Thiwanka steered MAS Bodyline to a fine 63 runs win over Central Finance. 

At Veyangoda: Softlogic Finance beat Hemas Group by 14 runs.
