Sooriyabandara leads Sri Lanka ‘A’ to South Africa

The Sri Lanka ‘A’ team prior to their departure to South Africa

 

The Sri Lanka ‘A’ team led by Pasindu Sooriyabandara left for South Africa on a five-match cricket tour of South Africa.

Sooriyabandara, a former cricket Captain of Royal College and Moors SC cricketer will lead the team in both formats one-day and four-day.

Sri Lanka named a 15-member squad for the three-match one-day limited-over series and a 16-member squad for the two four-day games.

The three one-day matches will be played at Potchefstroom on 31 August, 2 and 4 September and the two four-day games from 8-11 September at Kimberley and from 15-18 September at Benoni.

The former Sri Lanka cricketer Avishka Gunawardene is the head coach. Another former Sri Lanka cricketer and presently a national selector Tharanga Paranavithana accompanies the team as the selector on tour.

Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Captain Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Pavan Rathnayake, Nuwanidu Fernando, Sahan Arachchige, Dushan Hemantha, Sonal Dinusha, Chamika Gunasekara, Mohamed Shiraz, Wanuja Sahan, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Eshan Malinga, Dinura Kalupahana, Kavindu Nadeeshan.

Squad for four-day

Captain Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Lahiru Udara, Pavan Rathnayake, Nuwanidu Fernando, Ahan Wickramasinghe, Sonal Dinusha, Chamika Gunasekara, Mohamed Shiraz, Nishan Peiris, Wanuja Sahan, Isitha Wijesundara, Eshan Malinga, Oshada Fernando, Vishad Randika, Janith Liyanage, Dinura Kalupahana.
