South Africa ‘A’ cricketers led by top order batsman Tony de Zorzi arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday to play a three-match unofficial ODI series and a two-match 4-day unofficial test series against Sri Lanka ‘A’.
The 15-member strong squad includes eight test players namely Tony de Zorzi, Gerald Coetzee, Zubayr Hamza, Senuran Muthusamy, Keegan Petersen, Lutho Sipamla, Kyle Verreynne and Lizaad Williams. Tristan Stubbs has played in ODIs.
South Africa ‘A’ also includes young batters Dewald Brevis, who has only three first-class and six list A games to his name, Tristan Stubbs and Jordan Hermann, all of whom are under the ages of 22. Brevis and Stubbs played in the recently concluded IPL.South Africa ‘A’ open the tour with the first unofficial ODI against Sri Lanka ‘A’ at Pallekele on Sunday.
