SCCAY Head Coach Mumtaz Yusuf

The Southern California Cricket Association Youth (SCCAY) under 14-15 development team will make a short tour of Sri Lanka from 21 December to 4 January, playing four 35-over matches and two T20 games.

The tour of Sri Lanka is more than just a sports event. It is a platform for promoting youth development, fostering teamwork, and inspiring future sports people. The tour brings together talented young athletes to compete, learn, and grow, both on and off the field.

A portion of the proceeds from the tour will be directed towards charitable causes aimed at supporting underprivileged youth in Sri Lanka.

Currently, the SCCAY provides cricket coaching to youth at multiple locations in Southern California. The Head Coach of the team is former Sri Lanka and Malaysia national team coach Mumtaz Yusuf, who is also a Level 3 coach.

Yusuf was a former Sri Lanka cricket selector from 1989-92 before moving to Malaysia in 1994. He had a five-year stint with them after which he moved to the USA, where for the past decade he has been involved in coaching players in Southern California.
