  • National Super League 4-day tournament

Spinners Nishan Peiris (6/47) and Nimesh Vimukthi (4/69) took all 10 wickets between them to bowl Galle to a four-wicket win inside three days over Colombo in a low scoring game concluded at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota yesterday.

Colombo resumed their second innings at 110-4 were dismissed for 197 with none of the batsmen going on to make a big contribution.

Ashen Bandara scored 48 and Priyamal Perera 43 as the two spinners ran through the Colombo batting to leave Galle with the task of chasing 88 for victory, which they achieved after going through some anxious moments against spinners Nalin Priyadarshana (4/41) and Dunith Wellalage (2/41).

Defending champions Dambulla held all the aces in their match against Jaffna at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. After piling up a massive 619-8 declared in the first two days, Dambulla had Jaffna struggling at 274-8 by the close of the third day.

Opener Ron Chandraguptha scored a combative century (110 off 171 balls, 13 fours) and national white ball cricketer Janith Liyanage, a delightful 73 off 113 balls (5 fours, 1 six) but the rest of the batting failed to come to terms with the pace and spin combination of Dambulla. The match will continue on its fourth and final day today.
