The Ceylon Sport Fishing Club will be organising for the first time in Sri Lanka a charity fishing expeditionfor the benefit of needy children who are living along the coastline and children of fishermen.

The Ceylon Sport Fishing Club established in 2013and being the only active sport fishing entity in Sri Lanka, is an affiliated Fishing Club tothe International Game Fish Associationand has been working closely with the IGFA to set up ethical practices of fishing and already has formulated fishing rules for Sri Lanka which can be used by anglers when fishing or making world record application for different types of fish caught in Sri Lanka.

The International Game Fish Association which is the world governing body for sport fishing in the world and is represented by a representative in each country worldwide, including Sri Lanka is the founding father of sport fishing.

The purpose of this exercise is to the catch fish, as we normally do but this time have all the fish caught sold and from the proceeds buy school books for the children of fisher folk who are in need of this to commence the new school term in the year 2019.

You do not need to be a member of a Club and this invitation is sent out to all gentlemen and ladies to please participate in this worthy cause giving a needy child a facility to study.

They propose to launch off from the Wellawatte Beach 25 November, at 6 a.m. and return back by 1 p.m. after which they will auction the fish caught by all the boats on the beach and have the monies collected in the presence of the participants and well-wishers.

It is however not necessary to start off from Wellawatte, but do tell them of your participation and of course you could return by 1 p.m.to the point of start off which is the beach at Wellawatte bordering the Kinross Swimming and Life Saving Club.

Donations from well-wishers are welcome and your donations will be acknowledged and thereafter all donations done will be accounted for in detail.

Top sport fishermen of Sri Lanka will be seen in action, including the Sri Lanka Representative for the IGFA Philip Weinman and should you wish to participate or make any donations please call Sanjeewaor Philip 0777712696/3228094.
