Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe, filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday, addressing the irregularities uncovered in the audit report of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the various threats directed at him recently.
The Minister, carrying a substantial stack of files, arrived at the CID yesterday afternoon before proceeding to file his complaint
Security for the Minister was heightened recently, following his disclosure in parliament recently that he had received death threats from various parties.
During his address in Parliament, Ranasinghe maintained that he has been facing multiple threats as a result of his recent revelations regarding corruption, fraud, and irregularities within Sri Lanka Cricket.
He further expressed his concerns in a press conference citing perceived threats to his life from individuals associated with the “cricket mafia” in Sri Lanka, has expressed a profound lack of trust, going so far as to raise concerns about the water supplied by the President’s office, fearing the possibility of poisoning.
Speaking to the media outside the CID, the Minister stated that he had lodged complaints regarding issues related to cricket and the death threats against him. He also mentioned that he intends to disclose further details about these matters to the media later.
