Sports Minister temporarily suspends Football Federation of Sri Lanka

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has issued a special gazette notification (EOG 04-0052) temporally suspending the registration of Football Federation of Sri Lanka from further functioning its activities on the powers vested to him.

Under the Sports Law No.25 of 1973, Sports Minister decided to suspend the incumbent committee of the Football Federation which is in doldrums after several of its members tendered their resignation followed by their president Jaya Sri Ranga serving a jail sentence due to some personal issue. Hence, SM has appointed Director General to run the affairs of the association until convene and hold the re-elections.

Sri Lanka Football is under a suspension from the governing body FIFA for flaunting their code of conduct after the Ministry of Sports failed to comply in accordance with FIFA.
