The last ranking tournament for 2023 will take place from 10 to 13 November at the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) in Rajawella.

There will be 24 players in this tournament grouped in three each with the first tee off expected at 8.30 a.m.

The Golf Amateur Ranking tournament takes on added significance this year as it serves as a qualifying event for the Indian Amateur Open, scheduled to take place at the Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata, from 11 to 17 December.

The 122nd Amateur Golf Championship of India will attract players from various Asian countries. The top 2 from this VGR event will secure their spot while the 3rd and 4th placed will tee off at the Malaysian Amateur Open Championship. Nandasena Perera won this tournament in 1998 followed by Anura Rohana the following year in the Malaysian event history.

The event will see some class acts such as Chanaka Perera, Reshan Algama, Kumar Danushan and Jevahn Sathasivam in action.

Reshan Algama, the youngest-ever winner of this competition in April, aims to secure the top spot and achieve a remarkable third victory in his brief career. In addition to the seasoned players, junior sensation Jevahn Sathasivam is expected to make a significant impact, adding an exciting dimension to the tournament after some top class golf in Thailand and Malaysia.

The Golf Amateur Ranking tournament, a regular feature in the Sri Lankan golfing calendar, serves as a platform for amateur golfers to showcase their skills and compete for the top honours.
