Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Army win

The 3rd edition of Eagle’s Cup Handball Tournament took place at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium recently, with Sri Lanka Air Force securing the Women’s title while Sri Lanka Army won the Men’s segment in a thrilling final.

This tournament saw 9 teams from the Men’s segment and 6 teams from the Women’s segment played for honours. Majority of the players were from the tri-service, local handball clubs, and school-level handball clubs.

In the Women’s Team Championship, the Sri Lanka Air Force emerged victorious, beating Sri Lanka Army while in the Men’s segment Sri Lanka Army triumphed after a thrilling final that culminated in a penalty shootout. Sri Lanka Navy were the runner-up.

The Men’s final saw Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy teams were tied at 38 points each at the end of regulation time. In the penalty shootout Sri Lanka Army team clinched victory, displaying remarkable composure under pressure.

Meanwhile, the Women’s final saw the Sri Lanka Air Force team defeat the Sri Lanka Army team with a decisive score of 22/18.
