At the recently concluded Sri Lanka Junior Golf Championship 2021, Club Championship winner Yannik Kumara (15-18 years) and Kaya Daluwatte (12-18 years) were named winners of the Gold event in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories, respectively.
The Sri Lanka Junior Golf Championship 2021 ended yesterday at the RCGC course in Colombo.
Meanwhile, the Silver Division (12-14 years) was won by 13-year-old Reshan Algama, who was in sensational form and blazed through, winning the event once again in tandem. A top-class golfer, he, too, came up to the quarterfinals at the recently concluded centenary golf event at RCGC.
Yannik ended the Gold Division with a total of 207 followed by Nirekh Tejwani at 216 points. Another class act, Haroon Aslam was pushed down to 4th position with a total score of 226 points. K. Danushan ended third in this event.
Thirteen-year-old Kaya Daluwatte was in cracking form, totalling 223 points, followed by Sherin Balasuriya with 239 points.
Reshan Algama blazed through with some consistent golf aggregating a total of 231 points for the three days. He was followed by Shanal Binushka with a total of 247 points.
In the Bronze Division, Rathis Kanth won with Kaiyan Johnpillai ending second best.
The Copper Division, which is for 9 years or less, was won by Revaan Amarasinghe with 138 points, who was given a good run by Thomian schoolboy Saqeeb Zuhar, who ended second in this division.
The event was sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread and saw over 150 golfers teeing off for honours in the annual event.
