The Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship 2024, sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread teed off at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) yesterday.
This prestigious tournament, running from the 10 to 12 in order to select the best junior golfing talent in the country across various age divisions.
Prima is propping up with Junior Golf Since 2006.
Gold Division Boys (15-18+ years)
Adithya Weerasinghe took the lead with an impressive score of 70, setting the benchmark on Day 1. He was closely followed by Jevahn Sathasivam who posted a solid 72. Sharing third place were M. Lidurshan and Reshan Algama each scoring 77.
Gold/Silver Division Girls (13-18+ years)
Kaya Daluwatte dominated the girls’ competition, delivering a remarkable 70 to sit comfortably at top of the leaderboard. Anumi Karunathilake secured second place with a score of 87, showing her consistency on the course.
Silver Division Boys (13-14+ years)
The Silver Division saw an exciting tie for the lead, with Thejas Rathis Kanth and Kaiyan Johnpillai both carding 76. Their performances highlighted the fierce competition among the younger age groups.
Bronze Division Boys (11-12+ years)
The Bronze Division Boys also featured an intense battle for first place, with Lavindu Premarathne and Revann Amarasinghe both scoring 53 over 14 holes, setting the stage for an exciting second day today.
Bronze Division Girls (11-12+ years)
Genuli Weerakoon emerged as the frontrunner in the Bronze Girls category with a score of 66, while Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala followed with a commendable 70.
Copper Division Boys (10 years and under)
Jaeden Sathasivam displayed exceptional talent, finishing the day with an outstanding 31 over 9 holes. Yuvan Rathis Kanth took second place with a score of 33.
Copper Division Girls (10 years and under)
Ananya Kishanthan led the pack with a score of 40, while Dulkini Kangara’s steady 45 secured her the second spot.
