Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf tees off today

Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) set the stage for a thrilling start to the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship 2023, sponsored by Prima Sunrise Bread will tee off today with over 100 juniors vying for honours in the three-day tournament.

The competition not only promises fierce competition but also offers valuable world amateur ranking points for eligible participants. International players from India, Singapore and Australia will join the talented Sri Lankan contingent in this prestigious event.

In the Gold division (15 to 18+ years), all eyes are on Reshan Algama, the leading amateur, facing tough competition from world-ranking players Yannik Kumara, the two-time RCGC Club champion, Kumar Danushan and Jacob Norton, the recent Scanwell champion and runner-up, Jevahn Sathasivam.

The Girls Gold division anticipates a captivating battle between Kaya Daluwatta, showcasing solid skills from her recent play in India and Sherine Balasuriya, with Kaya being the favoured contender.

In the Silver division, Adithya Weerasinghe, champion of the Future Lions program and recent Scanwell tournament victor, is poised to secure another win. The Bronze and Copper divisions see Shenak Nimshit and Revaan Amarasinghe as the frontrunners.
