Sri Lanka Rugby Council appoints Panduka Keerthinanda as Legal Advisor

Sri Lanka Rugby Council has appointed Panduka Keerthinanda as its Legal Officer at their last meeting held recently.

Keerthinanda was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law to the Bar in 1993. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Colombo 1990 and is a Senior Practitioner in the Bar, where he acquired commendable experience in Criminal and Civil Law practice in Sri Lanka.

He held many high Government positions including Chairman of Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority; Member of National Sports Council; Legal Consultant to Sports Ministry 2010-15 and Legal Consultant to the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports.

He has also actively contributed to implementing now Sports Laws such as Convention Against Doping in Sports Act 33 of 2013 and Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act 25 of 2019.

Currently Keerthinanda is also the advisor to Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando.

Sri Lanka Rugby President Rizly Illyas said: “We are extremely happy that we appointed a very keen sports enthusiastic and legal person who has tremendous experience in Civil Law and Sports to SLR as our Legal Officer. I am confident that Panduka will deliver the rest for the benefit of the sport.”
