Late burst takes CH through

  • CH and FC 33 points
  • Army SC 23 points

A giant killing second half performance helped CH and FC to beat Sri Lanka Army SC by 33 points (five tries, four conversions) to 23 points (three tries, one conversion, two penalties) in their Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) conducted Inter Club Rugby League 2022 first round encounter which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday. At the short breather winners led 12/11.

Army scored their first half try through Dhanuka Wijethilake with Tharindu Madushan adding two penalties. CH in reply scored their first half tries through prop forward, Ashan Darling and centre, Kushan Indunil. Rohitha Rajapakse was accurate in one of the try conversions.

After the turn around Sudaraka Dikkumbura and Dhanushka Thalaththa scored for the Soldiers with Tharindu Madushan adding one try conversion for the losers. Meanwhile CH playing cohesive rugby in the later half scored their tries through Hirantha Perera, Omalka Gunaratne and Mohamed Abzal. Fly Half, Rohitha Rajapakse was accurate in all three try conversion in the later half.

Air Force edges out Sailors

  • Navy SC 10 points

Sri Lanka Air Force beat Sri Lanka Navy SC by 12 points (two tries, one conversion) to 10 points (two tries) in their Inter Club Rugby League encounter which concluded at Ratmalana yesterday. At the short breather scores were at five apiece.

Today Police SC will host the CR and FC at Police Park while the Kandy SC vs Havelock SC encounter was postponed to 20 March.
