The Grassroots to Global Series – Sri Lanka Forum organised by the Sri Lanka Rugby, will be held at the Mandarina Hotel, Colombo at 9 a.m. onwards on 20 and 21 August with ChildFund Rugby, which is a renowned organisation for development promotion, being the main sponsoring body.
The main objective of this forum is to promote female rugby and the development of leadership among women who are engaged in Rugby.
25 school physical training instructors from seven different provinces were given the opportunity to take part in the first-ever rugby leadership program. The physical training instructors were chosen as the participants as it will help to take forward the information to the grass root level.
Sports Ministry Secretary Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva and Sri Lanka Rugby President Rizly Illiyas will be the Chief Guests for the event while the forum will be moderated under the guidance of Exco- member Dr. Samantha Nanayakkara with the assistance of former Sri Lankan women’s rugby captain Sujani Rathnayake and Harini Jayamaha.
“ChildFund Rugby helps young people practice the skills they need to keep safe in a rapidly changing environment and supports global efforts to achieve gender equality and end all forms of violence against children,” according to ChildFund Alliance Chair Simon Whyte.
