Sri Lanka Under-19 cricketers end World Cup campaign with loss to South Africa

Sri Lanka Under-19 cricketers ended their Under-19 Cricket World Cup campaign with a 119-run loss to host South Africa at Potchefstroom yesterday which eventually put them out of a place in the semi-finals.

Sri Lanka faltered in their run chase of 233 to be bowled out for a disappointing 113 off 23.2 overs. Their batting was ripped apart by 17-year-old left-arm seamer from Jo’burg Kwena Maphaka who finished with figures of 6/21 and right-arm medium-pacer Riley Norton who took the remaining four wickets for 28 runs.

Sharujan Shanmuganathan top scored for Sri Lanka with 29 off 32 balls (4 fours).

South Africa who batted first after being put into bat by Sri Lanka scored 232-8.
