Sri Lanka cricket selectors have made one change to the Sri Lanka T20I squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan starting at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on 17 February.
Fast bowler Binura Fernando replaces injured Dushmantha Chameera in the 16-member squad.
Chameera pulled out of the first ODI against Afghanistan while bowling and it has been confirmed that he has injured his left quadriceps. He was replaced in the ODI squad by Asitha Fernando.
Binura Fernando last played in a T20I match for Sri Lanka in October 2022 against Australia at Perth. He has appeared in 12 T20Is and taken 12 wickets at an economy rate of 8.06.
All-rounder and former white ball captain Dasun Shanaka who was omitted from the ODI squad for the Afghanistan series has retained his place in the T20I squad. Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the side.
The second and third T20Is will also take place at Dambulla on 19 and 21 February.
