Nuwanidu Fernando is being tried out as a future opener for white ball cricket
With the series nicely poised, Sri Lanka ‘A’ have made three changes for the third and final unofficial ODI against England Lions at the R. Premadasa Stadium today.
Both teams are locked at one win apiece and this game is crucial for whoever wins it will also take the series.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ have left out Angelo Mathews, Avishka Fernando and Pramod Madushan from the side that won the second unofficial ODI by 86 runs on Saturday and replaced them with batsmen Lahiru Udara and Nipun Dananjaya and fast bowler Isitha Wijesudera.
Lasith Croospulle will have Nuwanidu Fernando as his new opening partner. Fernando who has been amongst the runs batting in the number three slot is being looked at as a future opener in white ball cricket.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ have retained eight of the players from the side that won the second unofficial ODI. After losing the first game by four wickets Sri Lanka ‘A’ bounced back to win the second and will be looking to clinch the series with a similar performance today. The only hitch could be the fickle weather which could curtail the game and prevent it from going the full distance. – (ST)
