Vishmi Gunaratne who captained Sri Lanka in the Women’s Under 19 T20 World Cup in South Africa has been included in Sri Lanka’s 15-member women’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup which will also take place in the rainbow nation.
Vishmi’s inclusion is one of three changes to the Sri Lanka team that emerged runner-up in the Women’s Asia Cup in October last year.
Experienced seamer Ama Kanchana and all-rounder Sathya Sandeepani have been recalled.
Sandeepani earned her inclusion as replacement for Hasini Perera who has been ruled out with a finger injury sustained at practice.
Chamari Athapaththu retains the captaincy with Harshitha Samarawickrama and Inoka Ranaweera adding experience to the side. Batter Harshitha was the second highest run getter in the Asia Cup and spinner Inoka was second joint highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup.
