All-rounder Dasun Shanaka and fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera have been named, subject to medical clearance, in Sri Lanka’s 18-member squad picked for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting at Pallekele on 16 January.
Shanaka has recovered from contracting COVID-19 and Chameera from an injury, and both of them undergo fitness tests before they are declared fit to play.
The squad which is a young side with a lot of potential players who performed well in the recently concluded LPL sees the return of leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay to the national side after two years and also a string of new faces to white-ball cricket notably hard-hitting right-hander Janith Liyanage who scored two half-centuries for Dambulla Giants in the recently concluded LPL where he was named as the emerging player of the tournament. Also included are uncapped players like Nuwan Thushara, Chamika Gunasekara, Kalana Perera and Kamil Mishara.
